FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Manley director is back with his lens pointed at the Grenada Revolution
Oakland, CA: Richard Audley Vaughan the award-winning independent filmmaker responsible for 2012’s “The Word Is Love: Jamaica’s Michael Manley: is back with “Four Years of Love: The Grenada Revolution”.
“Four Years of Love: The Grenada Revolution” will be a four-hour, three-part, look at the four years that made up the Grenada Revolution; 1979 to 1983.
“Those four years, where hope for a better tomorrow seemed attainable for all citizens, when the government put the concerns of the people first, when the people of Grenada were filled with a new sense of self and brimming with confidence enabling them to stand up for their rights. Those four years are the main focus of the film.” Vaughan stated.
The documentary contains interviews from former Press Secretary to Maurice Bishop: Don Rojas, Professors Brian Meeks, Patsy Lewis, Anthony Bogues and former Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister of Grenada: Bernard Coard.
Vaughan continues “The goal of this film is not to vilify or deify anyone. A lot has been speculated upon regarding the revolution. By Interviewing subjects from both sides of the debate and placing that alongside the scholarly work of the professors I feel that we have a clear and focused view of those four years that ended with heartbreak, confusion and despair.”
